SONG PREMIERE: Elizabeth Moen Drops Bluesy Garage Psych Stylings On ‘Synthetic Fabrics’

With one listen to Elizabeth Moen’s unique throwback vocals and you’d think you are hearing a Shannon and the Clams meets The Growlers collaboration. With whirls of garage psych, bluesy guitar and vivacious rock tenacities, Moen ain’t just another lo-fi indie singer-songwriter with something to say on All Songs Considered. Instead, she’s the edgy voice that complements valued artists like Kevin Morby (who band she’s currently touring with). Her new album Wherever You Aren’t, due November 11th.

Moen writes about life lessons, inspirations, drawbacks, and generally figuring it out – a scrapbook of first- and third-person accounts of growth experiences and rites of passage. As a self-taught and self-made artist, she brings her unique style of indie rock, indie folk, and soul to songs both personal and eerily relatable. Recently, she has been on tour in the live bands for Kevin Morby and Squirrel Flower, while picking up organic media endorsements from the likes of Chicago Tribune, NPR, Paste, Audiotree, and Earmilk. The first single, “Headgear”, from her forthcoming album already has over 1.5 million listens on Spotify.

Glide is premiering “Synthetic Fabrics” off Wherever You Aren’t, a textural mix of the past and present where Moen’s bluesy vocals and biting guitars create an almost one-woman-band juggernaut

“I wrote the verses when I was staying back with at my parent’s place and unsure of big decisions about my body and future. The chorus lyrics came to me months later on a bus from Dublin to a small town south of there on my way to play a show. Recorded at Fame Studios later that year on a day off on tour. An accumulation of fears, facing them, and support brought this song together.

Moen’s album release show at The Hideout in Chicago is on December 9th – go here for tickets.
