On her new album Parts of Speech Pieces of Sound, Rebecca Pidgeon taps into the ongoing communication between body, mind and spirit through vibrations and energy. Recorded in Los Angeles with co-producer Fernando Perdomo, the ten tracks here illuminate the connection between her art and her explorations of the sacred science behind yoga practice. Parts of Speech Pieces of Sound is being released on CD, digital download and via streaming platforms on Toy Canteen Records, September 24th.

The music, performed by Rebecca on multiple instruments, along with Perdomo (bass, guitar, keys], Andy Studer (strings), Matt Tecu (drums), and Satnam Ramgotra (tablas), shares aesthetic space with the ambitious, elaborate, cinematic work that made Kate Bush an icon, tempered with the hypnotic, atmospheric dreamscaping that artists like Weyes Blood and FKA Twigs have drawn from Enya.

Today Glide is excited to offer an exclusive early listen to the album, which finds Rebecca offering a musical interpretation of her connection to yoga. Across this intriguing collection of songs, Rebecca fuses pop and rock with Indian instruments and musical inspirations. Bringing it all together is a sweeping sense of drama and coming to terms with one’s inner peace. The music veers from dreamy and atmospheric to intense and danceable, making for a compelling sonic soundscape.

Rebecca describes the inspiration behind the album:

During the Covid lockdown, students in the Iyengar yoga community benefited greatly from the online teachings of Sri Prashant Iyengar and his family. I began studying his teaching on the yoga sutras of Patanjali, and was inspired by the Samkhya and yoga philosophy contained therein. The songs on this album are an imaginative journey through the chakras of the body, preceded by a reflection on the first three sutras of Patanjali, and punctuated by a rumination on the asana, “Savasana”.
