Amyl and the Sniffers Blast Boston’s Big Night Live With A Raucous Punk Fury (PHOTOS)

Australia’s powder keg-punk sensation, Amyl and the Sniffers took over Boston’s Big Night Live’s stage this past Sunday night (9/25) with their raucous, hyper-snot angry showcase of raw, in-your-face angst-fueled bombast. Led by Amy Taylor (vocals), the band tore through most of their catalog and more, like a machine gun with endless rounds.

The blistering set showcased the band’s no frills, all thrills barrage of punchy power chords, snarky snare, bitchy-barking, and ballsy bass throughout. Bryce Wilson (drums), Dec Martens (guitar), and Fergus Romer (bass) powered through, perched tight and hardly straying from their mark, all while wisely leaving room for Taylor to pace, march, prance, dance, and ultimately command both the stage and spotlight.

Taylor’s voice and attack ultimately define the band’s sound, but hints of the Stooges and AC/DC penetrate the audiological assault. Only stopping briefly once or twice for Taylor to question what was happening in the sardine can of fans in front of her, Amyl and the Sniffers left no stone unturned by treating their fans to 17 songs set that included “Freaks to the Front”, “Gacked On Anger”, “Security”, “Capital”, “Angels”, “Knifey”, “Mutts” and of course, “Hertz”. The band is set to continue their mission of kicking ass and taking names as they make waves supporting their latest album, Comfort to Me.
