LISTEN: Bay Area Psych Warriors Whiskerman Unearth Country Rocker “The Kid”

Bay area psychedelic powerhouse Whiskerman reaches back into their vaults to unearth “The Kid” in time to celebrate Royal Oakie’s Records 10th anniversary. Blending elements of early Dr. Dog and 70’s Laurel Canyon, “The Kid” is led by close vocal harmonies over a perfectly off-kilter country rock groove. Catch Whiskerman and a slew of other Bay Area bands at the Royal Oakie 10th Anniversary show on Oct. 23 at the Balboa Theater in San Francisco.

This song was recorded with what has now become an ever-growing musical family–Nick Cobbett, Will Lawrence, and Charles Lloyd. Recorded and mixed by the unstoppable Ian Pellici. It’s amazing to hear the birth of what would become Charles Lloyd’s signature slide guitar and the unmistakable butter of Will and Nick. Kelly McFarling remains to be my all-time favorite to sing and collaborate with. Giving thanks for this journey and the bonds it has forged. Also big thanks to @royaloakie for all the support and allowing us to be a part of their 10th anniversary,” says Patzner
