Elton John Says Goodbye To U.S. Shows With Dodge Stadium Finale

Last night (11/20) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, an unprecedented run came to an end. The Rocketman himself Elton John waved goodbye to the U.S. as he wrapped up the North American leg of his farewell tour. The 300+ dates on this tour had John going all across the globe and while there are still more overseas dates booked for 2023, John played his last piano chord on American soil on November 20, 2022. For those who couldn’t make it to the assuredly glamorous evening, Disney+ live-streamed the final show and will continue streaming a rerun on the platform.

Rightfully so, John stuck to his backlog of massive hits to make up his final setlist in the states. Kicking off the night with a melody of classics, John tore through songs like “Bennie and The Jets”, “Philadelphia Freedom”, and “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues”. He then transitioned into “Border Song”, which John dedicated to Aretha Franklin. John also brought along a few guests to help close out his time touring this country. He brought Brandi Charlie on stage to perform “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”, which he dedicated to members of his band who have passed over the years. He then brought out Kiki Dee for a rendition of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”, a song that has not been performed by John since 2016 and last night was the first time dueting the classic with Dee since 2006. The final guest of the night came in during the encore when Dua Lipa joined John on stage for a performance of “Cold Heart”.

Disney+ subscribers can relive the magic at any moment but for those of us who are not on the platform, you can watch clips from the Dodger Stadium show below along with the full setlist.
