John Frusciante Set To Release Two Solo Albums In 2023

2022 just keeps getting better for fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. After the release of two albums and what feels like a non-stop touring schedule, the band sounds like they’re still trying to prove themselves as pure artists, despite a storied career and blazing 2022. After a busy year as a full band, a certain member of RHCP is stepping out on their own. Today, guitarist John Frusciante has revealed not one but two solo LPs at the top of 2023.

While details are sparse on the releases, we know Frusciante plans on taking these LPs into a more electronic direction, much like his last LP, 2020’s Maya. The albums, which mark the guitarist’s 12th and 13th solo releases, will be getting an unconventional release. The first album, I, which is pronounced “One” will be a 7-song vinyl LP release while the follow up, II, pronounced “Two” will be released on CD and digitally and will feature a more expansive tracklist. According to a report from NME, the vinyl features a bonus song that will not be on the CD/digital version but the shorter tracklist for the strictly-physical version is due to the fact that “some of tracks have sounds that cannot be pressed on vinyl”. Release dates and full tracklists have not surfaced yet and it is still unclear if these are two different albums or will be released as a double LP.

This news comes on the heels of even more announcements from the Red Hot Chili Peppers camp as they recently announced another world tour coming in 2023. The band has dates set all over North America and Europe which will kick off in March of the upcoming year. You can get tickets for those upcoming shows here:
