WATCH: Dave Grohl & Greg Kurstin Kick Off ‘Hanukkah Sessions’ With Judd Apatow & P!nk

The holidays are a season of tradition and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl is in the midst of creating his own tradition with the help of producer Greg Kurstin and a cast of Jewish artists from all walks of the industry. The duo of Kurstin and Grohl are coming together for the third year of their “Hanukkah Sessions”, an 8-night event where the two super-musicians team up with Jewish celebrities and artists to perform covers from other famous Jewish artists. To emphasize how diverse the cast of characters helping the pair cover these historic tracks are, we’re only on night two of their annual event and so far the likes of director Judd Apatow crooned through Blood, Sweat, and Tears’ 1969 hit “Spinning Wheel” for the first installment of 2022 while night two had Jack Black joining Grohl and Kurstin in backing P!nk during her performance of “Get The Party Started”, you can watch both performances below:

This year’s Hanukkah Sessions are particularly special because Grohl and Kurstin recorded these live at the 250-capacity Los Angeles venue Largo. The initial sessions came about in 2020 when the duo began releasing covers from the likes of Drake and the Velvet Underground and primarily only featured the two musicians behind the whole operation. When they first started recording these covers, having all this help wasn’t an option as the first Hanukkah Sessions took place during COVID-19. With restrictions lifted, Grohl and Kurstin get to see their vision come to life and if the first two days are any hint as to what’s to come, 2022 might produce the most lit Hanukkah Sessions yet.
