The Three Best Casino-Related Movies Ever

Over the years, there’s been a lot of casino-related movies produced. In this article, we will look at some of the best ones. Hopefully, you will find one or several films of this genre that you have not yet seen. If so, then we strongly recommend you check them out, unless you don’t want to have a look at all low deposit bonuses New Zealand first of course! Either way, whenever you are ready, let the action begin!

1. Casino

It is not a surprise that a movie directed by Martin Scorsese is pure class, but Casino from 1995 is a real masterpiece even compared to his other productions. At the time of the writing of this article, you can find it placed 135 on the IMDb Top 250 Movies list with a score of 8.2/10.

The actors in Casino include Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, two of Scorsese’s top choices of actors and most common collaborators. The movie is set in Las Vegas, where the mob hire De Niro’s character Sam Rothstein to run one of the city’s casinos by the name of Tangiers Casino. By his side, he has his childhood friend Nicky Santoro, a mob enforcer played by Joe Pesci. The movie also stars Sharon Stone in the role of Ginger McKenna, the woman who manages to capture Rothstein’s heart, and a list of many other famous names.

So far so good, but it is not long before everything starts falling apart for the main protagonists, and what follows is a cycle of violence, murder, and betrayal. The movie shows the dark side of the gambling business, or at least what it used to be like.

It is a mystery that Casino never won an Oscar because it is considered by many to be Scorsese’s best movie together with Goodfellas. However, he did win a Golden Globe award for best director for it. If you have not seen it, we strongly recommend you do so!

2. Casino Royale

Casino Royale from 2006 was the first Bond movie with Daniel Craig as 007. It gave the franchise new life, something which was very much needed after a couple of less successful movies featuring Pierce Brosnan in the role of the legendary agent.

At first, many fans were sceptical when Daniel Craig was announced as the new James Bond. This was not due to his lack of acting skills, but a result of his former roles compared to the previous line of bond actors who had taken on the role. The scepticism quickly went silent after watching the movie though, with some critics even going as far as claiming Casino Royale to be one of the best Bond movies ever produced.

In the movie, viewers can follow Bond on his first mission ever as 007, the codename which gives him a license to kill. The mission takes him to the Casino Royale in Montenegro where he is facing villain Le Chiffre, a banker to terrorists all over the world played by the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, in an extremely high-stakes poker game. For Le Chiffre, losing is not an option as the game is his only chance to pay back money that he owes to the type of people that do not take kindly to unpaid debts. It does not take long for an already dangerous situation to escalate as the stakes get higher and Bond discovers who Le Chiffre really is.

This is a movie that we can recommend even for you who is not a Bond fan. It is vastly different compared to previous movies about the MI6 agent and will keep you on the edge of your seat (or couch)!

3. Ocean’s Eleven

Few other movies can boast about casts like Ocean’s Eleven. Starring actors like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Bernie Mac, Casey Affleck, and Andy Garcia to name a few?

It is in fact a remake of a 1960 film of the same name starring five members of the famous Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. It is about con artist Danny Ocean who, along with his 10 accomplices, is planning the biggest heist ever, this in the shape of robbing three famous Las Vegas casinos, all at the same time.

All the establishments are, however, owned by casino magnate Terry Benedict, a man most people would think twice before even contemplating stealing from. This yields a movie which is both exciting and funny at the same time and that really lives up to the expectations that come with a cast such as the one in Ocean’s Eleven. It is therefore yet another movie we strongly recommend!
