SONG PREMIERE: Ben Bostick Delivers Upbeat Country-rock Anthem with “Iowa Girl”

Ben Bostick is a Georgia-based singer-songwriter and one man band.

After leaving home for a decade of rambling and toiling at odd jobs, Bostick blew into California and decided to try his hand busking on the Santa Monica Pier. To the great surprise of the former ranch hand and roofer, Bostick found that he could make a living playing music. Ben saved his busking money and used it to record his debut EP, My Country, in 2016.

His self-titled debut album (2017), took on a more progressive country tone, recalling such artists as Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson, and showcased his versatility as a songwriter.

Hellfire (2018), Bostick’s sophomore release, is a collection of high energy songs written during his band’s yearlong residency at The Escondite in downtown Los Angeles. 2019 brought Bostick and his family to Atlanta, GA and Among the Faceless Crowd was released on April 17, 2020 to high praise. The follow-up, Grown Up Love (2021), a collection of love songs borne out of the trials of the pandemic and his daughter’s diagnosis with Rett Syndrome, was released on August 20, 2021. Now, more than two years later, Bostick is gearing up to release what may be his most ambitious record to date with Look out for The Rascal Is Back, to be released on April 14th.

Today Glide is offering an exclusive premiere of the standout track “Iowa Girl,” a fun and swaggering heartland rocker that brings to mind acts like The Gourds. With its stomping beat and light-hearted lyrics, plus a healthy serving of harmonica and twangy guitar, the song is the kind of feel-good anthem that can get a whole bar singing along. Bostick lays down just the right amount of country-tinged rocking, simple and catchy lyrics, and timeless messaging to make this a proper hit for the honky tonk crowd.
