Lonely Choir (Rachael) is a Denver-based indie singer/songwriter. Her music has been described as a unique balance between raw emotionality and tongue-in-cheek wit.
On the surface “Alexa” feels like a familiar kind of melancholy song of unrequited love and bargaining with an ex over the details of their new interest, but Lonely Choir spins a modern tongue-in-cheek story of technophilia. While the basis of the song may not need to be taken seriously the poetic approach is nothing short of stirring. Rachael’s emotive voice has a playfulness to it that softens you to accept the unfamiliar narrative. Go check out the rest of Lonely Choir’s fresh EP “sports” for more light-hearted beauty.
“I always had a deep hatred for Alexa, and would joke that my partner at the time loved her more than he loved me. His tone was always so sweet when he’d speak to her. So when I was over at his place I noticed multiple Alexa boxes & joked that he sure had moved on fast, I then wrote this song in my car on the drive home,” says Rachael.
