On the heels of their freshly released This Stupid World LP, the storied Yo La Tengo trio is setting out on a massive tour. They kicked things off last night (February 15) at the Neptune Theater in Seattle, Washington. While the tour is in support of the band’s newest LP, the tracklist from last night seemingly spans the band’s discography and brings a promising outlook for day-one fans.

The night was split up into three acts, two halves, and an encore. The first half of the show was primarily made up of songs from This Stupid with songs like “Sinatra Drive Breakdown” and “Tonight’s Episode” kicking things off. The majority of the album was played throughout the night with the exception of “Brain Capers” and “Until It Happens”. The rest of the night, Yo La Tengo bounced around their discography, pulling songs like “The Ballad of Red Buckets” from their 1995 album, Electr-O-Pura all the way to “Ashes” from their 2018 project, There’s A Riot Going On. The trio ended the night with an encore consisting of three covers, “Till The End Of The Day”, “God’s Children” by The Kinks, and “What Can I Say” by NRBQ, The third allegedly went on for 20 minutes.

With one show under their belts, Yo La Tengo is just getting started. They’ll perform a second show at Neptune Theater tonight before heading over to cities like Portland, San Fransico, and Los Angeles. The band will then bounce around the states until late March when they’ll head overseas for the European leg of the tour.
