Over this weekend (February 18), the always-entertaining series Austin City Limits presented by PBS aired its latest full performance for fans outside of the city to enjoy. The legendary Spoon made their triumphant homecoming to Texas late last year for a performance at The Moody Theater. Austin City Limits has finally released the full performance and with the band coming fresh off the road at the time, they were primed for their return to Austin. The live performance took place in October of last year and is now available to stream in full on the PBS website.
The aforementioned tour had Spoon supporting their critically acclaimed 2022 album, Lucifer On The Sofa, an album the band leaned on when putting together the tracklist for their ACL performance. 6 of the 10 songs from the LP made it onto the setlist that night with hits like “Wild” and “The Hardest Cut” making an appearance. The band then bounced around their storied discography, pulling out songs like “My Mathematical Mind” from 2005’s Gimme Fiction and “Metal Detektor” from their classic 1998 album A Series of Sneaks. The band also went outside of their discography to perform covers from bands like Smog (“Held”) and John Lennon (“Isolation”).
Spoon will be heading back out on the road in 2023 starting in April at the Love Street Music Fest in Huston. The band will then head overseas for a few shows in Norway, the U.K., and more.
The full performance is available to stream online until March 19. Check out the full performance, setlist, and the band’s full list of spring tour dates below;
