For the first time since 2016, The Cure is making a trip overseas for an extensive tour of North America. The band first hinted at the tour earlier this week when they took to social media to encourage fans to sign up for their email list, you can see that initial post here. Today (March 9), The Cure has officially announced the dates for their upcoming trip to the states and they are not giving themselves a chance to breathe once they get over here. Some dates include trips to Canada and three nights a piece at Madison Square Garden and The Hollywood Bowl.
This announcement comes on the heels of a highly active time for The Cure frontman Robert Smith. He can be seen collaborating across genres and recently was a part of reissuing The Cure’s 1992 live album, Show, for the upcoming Record Store Day. More importantly, The Cure began adding unreleased tunes to their setlists during their tour of Europe in 2022. They began performing three new songs during their tour last year, hinting at the idea of a new Cure album in the works. While there is still no official word on new music from the camp, this newly announced tour is called Shows Of A Lost World, and the rumored name of the new album is Songs Of A Lost World. We’re not connecting the dots, just laying them out.
On top of all this excitement, The Cure still finds time to put the fans first. In a quote from the band they say “THE CURE HAVE AGREED ALL TICKET PRICES, AND APART FROM A FEW HOLLYWOOD BOWL CHARITY SEATS, THERE WILL BE NO ‘PLATINUM’ OR ‘DYNAMICALLY PRICED’ TICKETS ON THIS TOUR”.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale on March 15 at 10 A.M. local time. You can see the full list of dates and register for early access to tickets below.
