The legendary Iggy Pop kicked off his 2023 the only way he could, releasing new music and gearing up to take those fresh songs on the road. During the first week of the new year, Pop released his nineteenth solo studio album Every Loser. Along with a stellar band of all-stars, Pop once again proved that the need to thrash does not yield to age. Last night (March 10), The Stooges frontman took the stage in Chicago at the historic Salt Shed venue to kick off his quick tour of the states in support of Every Loser. After a long 2022 filled with shows across Europe, Pop is bringing the tour right to your doorstep.
The setlist he is bringing with him tells the story of his career. For fans of classic Iggy Pop, you’re in for a treat as the majority of last night’s show was made up of songs from Pop’s Stooges days. He performed classic songs like “Loose” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog” while still finding time to fit in his solo material. Shockingly, Pop only performed one song from the new LP, the hectic “Frenzy”. He pulled out tracks like “Mass Production” from his ‘77 solo work The Idiot and “The Endless Sea” from 1979’s New Values. He put a ribbon on the whole performance with a two-song encore where he performed “I’m Sick Of You” and “Search and Destroy”.
Iggy Pop’s tour of the states has him primarily bouncing around the west coast with shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. He will then hop back over to Europe for a string of dates that has the legend going everywhere from London to Spain.
