Every long week feels worth it once your favorite DSP updates with all the new releases, doesn’t it? With allergy season looming in the near distance and the days shifting between gloomy and gorgeous, the only constant left during this transition into Spring is new music Friday. This week brings with it countless hours of brand-new songs from old-time favorites to the new faces looking to become your go-to artist for the warm weather. 

Check out Glide’s picks for the best new releases of the past week: 

Mourning [A] BLKstar – “Catch 22” 

Single 

The eclectic and ever-expanding collective that is Clevland’s Mourning [A] BLKstar is back with a brand new single. “Catch 22” is a funk-driven track that dips into moments of pure soul and jazz. The song follows up the collective’s critically acclaimed 2020 LP, The Cycle

Cable Ties – “Time For You” 

All Her Plans 

Australia’s leading garage punk band, Cable Ties, has announced a brand new album. All Her Plans is set to release on June 23 via Merge Records and on top of all this excitement, the band released the first single for the upcoming LP. “Time For You” has the band creating a bluesy rock song with just enough edge to create a layered track that acts as a proper introduction to All Her Plans

Jungle – “Candle Flame” (Feat. Erick The Architect)

Volcano 

The time has finally arrived for the production duo of Jungle to make their long-awaited comeback. Volcano, the brand new album from the duo, is set to release on August 11 via Caiola Records and AWAL. With the announcement of a new LP Jungle released “Candle Flame” featuring New York’s own Erick The Architect. The bright new single has enough glitz and glam for any other release this week as the song features high-pitched vocals over a bouncy arrangement. 

Jenny Lewis – “Psychos” 

Joy’All 

After four long years, the unwavering twang of Jenny Lewis is finally making a comeback. Joy’All is the brand new album from Lewis set to release on June 9 via Blue Note. The album will feature her 2021 single, “Puppy and a Truck”, along with “Psychos”, the latest single from Lewis. The track features Lewis’ signature gentle vocals along with equally soothing songwriting. 

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit – “Middle of the Morning” 

Weathervanes 

On the heels of the announcement that country star Jason Isbell will be the focus of a new HBO documentary, the storied songwriting has announced a new LP. Weathervanes is set to be the latest offering from Isbell’s 400 Unit band and will be released on June 9. “Middle of the Morning” features an expansive arrangement along with some throat-scratching vocals from Isbell to create a future country classic. 

Rahill – “Fables” (Feat. Beck) 

Flowers At Your Feet 

The lead singer of Brooklyn’s Habibi is gearing up to release their first solo LP. Rahill has teamed up with the illustrious Beck for “Fables”, the first look into Flowers At Your Feet which is set to release on May 12 via Big Dada. The up-tempo single features infectious drums that allow the two to croon in disbelief, creating interesting textures that have us excited for the full album. 

Altin Gün – “Su Siziyor” 

AŞK

The critically acclaimed psychedelic rockers known as Altin Gün are back with a brand new LP. AŞK is out today and it brought a whole slew of stellar tracks including the single “Su Siziyor”. The single features a plethora of cosmic shifts sonically while gorgeous vocals act as a glue that keeps this collage of musicianship together. 

Rodrigo Y Gabriela – “The Eye That Catches The Dream” 

In Between Thoughts… A New World 

The acclaimed duo of Rodrigo Y Gabriela has arrived and brought with them a collection of new music. Their new album, In Between Thoughts… A New World is set for release on ATO on April 21 and the latest look into the LP has us all the more excited. “The Eye That Catches The Dream” is the dreamscape that is ushering us into the new LP, opposing tones and tempos find solace in one another as the twinkling guitars shapeshift throughout the new song. 

ABRA – “FKA Mess” 

Single 

ABRA has been the talk of the R&B community for years despite her mysterious ethos. It feels like the acclaimed vocalist is gearing up for a full fledged comeback with her new single “FKA Mess”. The 6-minute odyssey has ABRA traversing several tempos as her signature falsetto glides over the eccentric arrangement with ease and poise. 

The New Pornographers – “Last and Beautiful” 

Continue as a Guest 

The brand-new album from the alt-legends The New Pornographers is everything you could hope for and more. On the band’s first studio LP since 2019, they piece together emotions over arrangements that range from thrashing to awe-inspiring. “Last and Beautiful” is a standout due to the song’s dense textures and the juxtaposing sinfully sweet vocals. 

The Hold Steady – “Sixers”

The Price of Progress

For Brooklyn’s Hold Steady, their ninth studio album feels like the culmination of a band who has been putting everything into their music for years. The Price of Progress is a 10-song expedition into the progress of a band who was already way ahead of their time and “Sixers” feels like a creative victory lap. The song has the band fearlessly reimagining their sound while still sticking to their roots with frantic vocals.
