If you scrolled through social media or any music blog yesterday, you already know that the acclaimed Willie Nelson celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday (April 29). In order to properly ring in the songwriter’s 90th year on earth, Nelson brought out some of his most talented friends at his “Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90” concert series over the last two days. You can read our recap of day one here as it was jam-packed with some of music’s most storied acts coming out to perform in honor of Nelson, all taking place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Day two brought a similar list of guest stars and a few surprises.
If you saw any coverage of day one, you already know the likes of Billy Strings, Nora Jones, and Bob Weir made appearances and last night was no different. The main difference between night one and night two is no small difference with the legendary Keith Richards showing face towards the end of night two. The two legendary artists performed “We Had It All” by Donnie Fritts and put their spin on the classic Billy Joe Shaver track, “Live Forever”.
