LISTEN: Dead Billionaires Hit Hard & Punch Low With Ragged & Ready “Straight Shooter”

Dead Billionaires are a ramshackle band bent on scratching a primal itch — empowering audiences through effervescent, driving rock n roll.

Formerly known as Little River Creek Police, Dead Billionaires started as the songwriting project of frontman Warren Campbell in 2016 in Richmond Virginia. Operating as a small collective with a fluid lineup, the band wields music as a tool for grappling with the problems of our modern society, while having a hell of a lot of fun doing it.

Right off the rip, Dead Billionaires hit you with all the punch and energy you can ask for on their new single “Straight Shooter.” The drummer is heavy-handed in all the right ways on the intro fills, but lands back into the mix to allow the vocalist and a full-toned guitar to shine through. They don’t hide behind the energy and tone either; lyrically, this is an apt observational songwriter’s perspective. In a lot of ways “Straight Shooter” is reminiscent of Deer Tick’s early albums dynamically and melodically with a very different and unique conic feel.

“Straight Shooter serves as the second part of a thesis statement for the album. If Curb is our desperate cry for a way out of our crumbling world, Straight Shooter is the second side of the coin, one of acceptance and apathy. We’ll party until the wheels fall off and they already are. The album bounces between both of these perspectives to acknowledge the contradiction of trying to live a true and happy life in our current world.”
