Celebrating its tenth year, Boston Calling has yet again continued its tradition of bringing an array of national and local musicians to the attention of New England’s music festival fanatics. Kicking off the Memorial Day weekend in fashion, attendees were blessed with sensational weather, food and most importantly – music performances. Together, the four stages offered a healthy variety of pop, rock, rap and folk.

Of course, the general buzz was about the long-awaited rescheduled performance by the Foo Fighters – who were originally scheduled to kick off their tour in Beantown, but who managed to squeeze in a stop in New Hampshire a couple of days prior to headlining Boston Calling on Friday, May 26th. The Foo’s treated their fans with a set chock full of their expected hits, new songs including “Under You” and a pair of songs that showcased Grohl’s daughter, Violet. The Foo left no stone unturned, much to the delight of their faithful following that camped in front of the green stage for eight hours prior to the beginning of their set.

Other highlights from the day included a frenetic performance by Boston Calling veterans, the National, a soulful display from the fiercely tattooed Teddy Swims, and killer blues from both Celisse and GA-20. Los Angeles’ Zolita delivered a fun set filled with electropop as well. Saturday’s and Sunday’s schedule promises to deliver an even more eclectic assortment of artists. Glide will be there to bring you more photos and reflections. Stay tuned!
