Alanis Morissette, The Flaming Lips, Fletcher Lead Boston Calling Day 2 Highlights (PHOTOS)

As the temperature started to increase in Boston, so did the energy of both the guests and artists at Boston Calling on Saturday. Fans were lined up well before gates opened at 1:00 PM. Judging by the t-shirts of those in line, many were there to see The Lumineers, Alanis Morissette, and the Flaming Lips. Throughout the day, the festival grounds became noticeably more crowded earlier as compared to Friday – even with the anticipation of the Foo Fighters performance.

Observing fans in the front rows and along the rails, it was obvious that emotions were clearly running high, as many attendees were beside themselves as they got to see and listen to their favorite bands – maybe even for the first time. The Q-Tip Bandits and Declan McKenna, both who put on an energetic and engaging performance had a sea of rabid fans waiting on every word of every song. Despite technical difficulties, both Fletcher and the Aces managed to overcome and brought enough joy and positivity to share with the whole class.

Naturally, a healthy number of attendees anxiously awaited performances by the Flaming Lips, Morissette, and The Lumineers – none of which disappointed. The Lips’ abbreviated set came complete with all their expected bells and whistles – leaving their die-hard followers in a tizzy. The adoration for Morissette was palpable throughout her set. As she paced from stage right to stage left for most of her performance, her smile was infectious as her music. The Lumineers, who closed out the night, successfully gave their fans everything that they wanted with an amazing show, packed with emotion and spirit! Let’s see what happens on Sunday!
