King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizards, Queens of The Stone Age & The Walkmen Rock Boston Calling Day 3 (PHOTOS)

On the hottest day of the weekend, the final day of the Boston Calling music festival delivered a knockout punch in the final round with a diverse lineup that included pop, rock, rap, country, rap and folk – a little something for everyone to enjoy. As always, the festival strives and succeeds to bring an eclectic mix of artists to the masses. What Boston Calling truly excels at is introducing lesser-known acts to the attendees while still providing a healthy dose of established acts.

On Sunday, guests were of course treated to heavy hitters like King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and Queens of the Stone Age but they also got a taste of country sensation Maren Marris and local soulstress Ali McGuirk. The younger demographic ate up performances by Mint Green and Linda Lindas. The latter of which was introduced, ecstatically, by Mayor Michelle Wu.

Standout performances were found on each of the four stages. The Walkmen, from New York City, was just one example. The band’s frontman Hamilton Leithauser’s energy was dramatic and captivating. Their set was chock full of high-octane rock with attitude. Across the campus, Genesis Owusu and his entourage of masked dancers gave the most memorable performance of the day. Not only was the performance mesmerizing, but the music was just as intriguing. With 17 artists performing on Sunday, a fraction of the 50 from the whole festival – everyone who attended certainly found plenty to enjoy. Now the question is, how with the festival’s team top this year’s event?
