“If You Really Knew” the new single from Joel Ansett is just about as vibe driven and stoically moody as it gets. With a perfect blend of organic live-sounding drums, ethereal vocal layering, and tasteful synths; the sound evokes a strong call back to The Postal Service. The feel and songwriting stand all on its own though. Joel has a strong and understated vocal delivery that allows the listener to really grab onto every word in the song. The poetry can speak for itself with Ansett’s chorus : “If you really knew me, Could you really love me? I keep on hiding out and holding it in. If you really saw me, Would you really want me? I don’t know how to let me love you again, and I extend my hand.”
