LISTEN: You and Me and You Deliver Rich Bedroom Pop Ballad On “By 9”

You and Me and You is a four-piece indie rock band born and based in Washington, D.C. that specializes in three-part harmonies. The group is composed of Dani Zessoules (guitar, vocals), Emily Mann (bass, vocals), Reed Doherty (guitar, vocals), and Pat Gunning (drums). Their debut EP “Living Room” was released in April 2021, named, in part, for the days they would get together in Emily’s living room and play and write music all day. Since their humble beginnings, they’ve opened for nationally touring acts such as Twain, Hand Habits, Sam Evian, and Bellow.

On “By 9”, You and Me and You deliver a thoughtfully minimalistic bedroom pop ballad marked by seamless harmonies and comfortably muted tones throughout. The steady rhythmic pulse serves as a solid base for a skillfully woven melody.  Their first full-length album Just to Keep Them Happy is out now.

This is a break-up-with-a-friend song where you realize that there is an insurmountable rift that’s come between you two and it’s the swirling of emotions that comes with that. Our friend Dylan (of DC band Moozy) recorded, produced, and mixed this all from his bedroom and we’re super proud of it. Its definitely the moodiest, slow-burning track on our album.
