JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown Kick Off Co-Headlining Tour in Nashville (RECAP)

Earlier this year, the duo of veteran Detroit rapper Danny Brown and producer/rapper JPEGMAFIA teamed up for their collaborative LP Scaring The Hoes. The LP has a strong case to make for the album of the year and the recently released deluxe EP continues to show the many sides of JPEG’s production while the pair’s chemistry keeps shining and impressing. Last night (July 25), Brown and JPEG took over Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tennessee to kick off the Scaring The Hoes tour. The duo brought their collab album to life while finding the time to dive into their deep and colorful catalog respectfully.

The night kicked off with JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown on stage together as they ran through Scaring The Hoes stand-outs like “Lean Beef Patty ”, “Steppa Pig ”, and “Garbage Pale Kids”. Brown’s setlist shows the pair diving deeper into the album by pulling out B-sides like “Orange Juice Jones” and the frantic title track. Individually, the two pulled classics from their discography for their solo performances. Brown performed “Really Doe”, “Ain’t It Funny”, and “When It Rain” from his 2016 fan-favorite LP Atrocity Exhibition. One of the most exciting moments of the night was Brown performing an untitled, unreleased song, indicating that a solo follow-up is hopefully not too far away. JPEGMAFIA performed tracks like “BALD!”, “Baby I’m Bleeding” and  “1539 N. Calvert”, three shining examples of the infectious energy of JPEG’s solo work. He also pulled out his highly praised cover of Carley Rae Jepsen’s pop hit “Call Me Maybe”.

With a new LP, a deluxe EP, and ironclad chemistry, Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA are hitting the road with high expectations. This current run of shows has the duo traversing the States with stops in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio coming up this week. The remainder of the tour will take place in cities like Philadelphia, New York, and Boston, and caps with a run of shows through Texas.
