While OSEES continually gets caught up in the race for the world’s most prolific band alongside Guided by Voices, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and Ty Segall; there is no denying this San Francisco band might lead the quality-over-quantity race.
John Dwyer and his cohorts recently announced details for their forthcoming LP, Intercepted Message, due August 18 via In The Red. Following the release of the record’s first two singles — “Intercepted Message” and “Goon” – Glide is premiering the song and video (directed by Matt Yorka) for their latest winner titled “Stunner.” Combining the now classic Osees onslaught of psychedelic garage ferocity, “Stunner” sees the band cooking up more instrumentally charged artistic ingenuity.
“Life is a short hot mess/take a breath in the moments when you’re not taking it right in the face/
frenetic tunes for scattered times,” says Dwye about the song.
In addition to their forthcoming LP, a 2012 LEVITATION performance by Thee Oh Sees has been revisited for a new series of vinyl releases, Live at LEVITATION, immortalizing it on glorious 12″ colored wax, mixed by John Dwyer and mastered for vinyl by JJ Golden. The release is out in stores today, May 19 It is available for purchase HERE.
To celebrate their new LEVITATION release, 5 classic OSEES records — Dog Poison (2009), Floating Coffin (2013), Mutilator Defeated at Last (2015), Orc (2017), and A Foul Form (2022) — have also been repressed, each in two new vinyl colorways and only available at Levitation.fm.
