LISTEN: Norah Brown and Stephanie Coleman Bring Welch/Rawlings Acoustic Bliss On “Lady Of The Lake”

Rising Americana star Norah Brown and renowned fiddle player Stephanie Coleman come together again to create an old-time stunner that aims right for the heartstrings and never lets go. Brown’s voice seems to flow from the same endearing and convincing spring as Gillian Welch, Sam Amidon, and Jake Xerxes Fussel, with Coleman’s tasteful playing and harmonies affirming it all the way. “Copper Kettle” is off the pair’s latest release, “Lady of the Lake, out now.

“I first remember hearing this song played by guitarist and singer/songwriter Jefferson Hamer around a late night campfire at the Miles of Music camp in New Hampshire. I think I had heard the song before, but it really inspired me that night. Arriving home from camp, I learned it and immediately showed it to Steph,” says Brown.”

“The song was composed by Albert Frank Beddoe as a part of a play called Go Lightly Stranger and was later recorded by folk legends Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. It became a folk classic of sorts.”
