Despite what your calendar might say, Run The Jewels has only been around for a decade. Since they debuted a decade ago it feels like they’re never too far away from the spotlight credited to their prolific work ethic and innovative creativity. The duo of Killer Mike and EL-P debuted back in 2013 and are spending the remainder of 2023 celebrating their 10th birthday across the states. Run The Jewels will be doing short residencies across the U.S., and each night promises a different career-spanning setlist. The RTJX Tour kicked off last night (September 13) at New York City’s Terminal 5 with a setlist for the ages.
As promised, Run The Jewels pieced together one impressive setlist for the first show of their tour. The duo kicked the night off by performing their self-titled debut in full, marking the first time they performed “Twin Hype Back” in ten years. The remainder of the night was an exploration of the albums that followed the LP that started it all. Run The Jewels performed classics like “Angel Duster” and “Oh My Darling Don’t Cry” from Run The Jewels 2. Their third LP got the least amount of attention on night one with “Legend Has It” and “Call Ticketron” being the only tracks to make the cut. Run The Jewels 4 got a little more love with tracks like “Ooh La La” and “Walking In The Snow”.
This is just the beginning of what is promising to be a legendary tour for Run The Jewels. The duo has another three shows at Terminal 5 before they head over to Chicago for another four-night stay. After that, the next stops will be Atlanta and Los Angeles. Check out the full list of dates, setlist, and footage from the first stop of the RTJX tour below.
