After spending the majority of 2022 touring overseas and the first half of 2023 playing select festival dates, the iconic TOOL is finally gifting the States with some headlining dates. Last night (October 3), the band took over Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado for the first stop on their extensive fall tour. This stint on the road will have the band on the road for nearly two months and includes a trip up north for a few shows in neighboring Canada. For a full two hours, TOOL had the entire venue mesmerized with a very curated setlist that included some exciting twists.
TOOL kicked things off with the title track to their latest studio album Fear Inoculum. The album was originally released in 2019 and would become the main focus of the night. The band performed six of the album’s ten songs including “Descending” and “Pneuma”. The band also favored their classic 2006 release 10,000 Days, performing songs like “Jambi”, “The Pot”, and “Rosetta Stoned”, which hadn’t been performed with vocals since 2019. TOOL also pulled out select cuts from Ænima like “Stinkfist” along with “The Grudge” from their 2001 LP Lateralus. After a brief intermission, the band then returned to their 2019 release with performances of “Chocolate Chip Trip”, “Culling Voices”, and “Invincible”.
One show down and a whole lot to go as TOOL sets off on an extensive trip around North America. The band will continue their trek until late November with stops in Spokane, Vancouver, Knoxville, and many more. TOOL is also slated to play this weekend’s Power Trip festival, sharing a lineup with the likes of Judas Priest and Metallica.
