LISTEN: Katie Kedder Offers Swirling Alt-Folk Nostalgia On “Hydroplane”

Katie Keddie is a singer-songwriter based in Nottingham, England. Keddie’s upcoming releases take a slightly different musical direction, infused with warm synth layers and banjo hooks provided by musician and producer Noah Weinman.

Keddie delivers a soft and thoughtful alt-folk ballad via her new single, “Hydroplane”. Swirling in acoustic guitar touch and banjo teasing, Keddie’s voice cuts with ease, sitting atop the well-defined acoustic soundscape. “Hydroplane” is a short but very sweet timepiece that quivers with palpable emotion and unrelenting beauty.

“The track was born out of a scary, near-accident experience when driving with my boyfriend while we were arguing about something dumb, so I guess the song is really about trying to let go of the small stuff and be present,” says Keddie.
