SONG PREMIERE: Josh Langston Showers Ears With Deep Americana Gravitas On “Still Hurts When It Rains”

Songs with “rain” in the title have never been scarce, but when those compositions are sung with a radiant gravelly gravitas like that of Josh Langston, drizzles become downpours. And while Langston’s pickings are slim on streaming services, that’s all about to change with his new album Tastes Like Sin out on February 2, 2024. Set against the rustic backdrop of Historic Downtown Bryan, Texas, Tastes Like Sin (2/29/24), promises to unfold a love story rooted deep in Texas tradition. While it spans two decades, each track is as fresh as the morning sun, guiding listeners through the classic arc of a romance that starts with the “Promised Land” and draws to a close with “Just Cause.”

Glide is premiering the new song “Still Hurts When It Rains” where Langston shows why he has earned comparisons to Colter Wall and Warren Zeiders with his vocals. This is a modern Americana country tune where the twangy whiny pitch is tossed aside for something more robus.

I wrote “Still Hurts When It Rains” with Trick Savage and Dan Smalley, both very accomplished writers in Nashville. We wrote it the first time the three of us were in a room together. It’s just a classic country song about lost love and the lingering sadness that seems to show its face when the weather turns. By far the newest composition on my soon-to-be-released album, but it is rapidly becoming one of my favorites,” adds Langston.
