The wait is finally over for hip-hop fans around the world as the elusive and legendary André 3000 has announced his long-awaited debut solo album. New Blue Sun will arrive this Friday (November 17) and will break a 17-year musical silence from half of the famous Outkast duo. André, however, will not be rapping on his solo debut. Instead, he will handle the woodwind instruments as part of a four-piece band put together after the Atlanta-bred artist moved to Los Angeles. New Blue Sun is co-produced by drummer/producer Carlos Niño and features Nate Mercereau on guitar and Surya Botofasina on the keys.

According to an interview André 3000 had with NPR, New Blue Sun is an 87-minute LP of pure instrumentals. Over the past few years, you may have seen fan footage of 3000 playing his flute on random street corners in New York or Philadelphia. It was only when he moved to LA and met Niño. The pair began to have regular jam sessions that evolved into the aforementioned four-piece and the new album. The album is completely improvisational and has three-stacks cycling through a number of different flutes for eight tracks.

Other than rearing his salt-and-pepper head every now and again to demolish a feature verse, André 3000 has been silent since the best-selling rap duo of all time called it quits 17 years ago. New Blue Sun is right around the corner to break that silence. While it looks like any more information on the album will be sparse until its release on November 17, you can check out the full tracklist below.
