Grandaddy’s upcoming LP, Blu Wav, is set to be released on February 16. After a productive 2023 that saw the Jason Lytle-led band release two demo-style albums, a set of brand-new songs is just around the corner. Today, Grandaddy releases “Cabin in My Mind”, the deeply meditative and lush single. The reflective lyrics are greeted with soaring guitar strums and a slow-burning arrangement that elevates the moody tones.
“Cabin in My Mind” is even better than the album’s first stellar single, “Watercooler”. “A while back I was traveling with a friend, doing some shows and just riffing, and he came up with this phrase. It made so much sense to me and had so many things just within the title itself: shutting off and just, like, going inward.” says Lytle on his latest poetic single, “It’s fun to imagine literally a cabin inside your mind. ‘I’m out of here, see ya, guys’ and you walk in the front door, shut the door and disappear for a while.’ It was perfect like an old country song where the title says everything. I remembered the phrase, and it was easy for me to pick it up and just make it work.”
Blu Wav is already sounding like a statement piece for Grandaddy. Lytle’s songwriting has never sounded so potent, especially on “Cabin in My Mind”. Check out the stunning music video and new single from Grandaddy below. Blu Wav will be released on February 16.
