Coming off of the high praise from their 2022 LP, Nightroamer, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers are getting back to work. Today (December 8), the band announces their brand new LP Revelations will be released on March 29 and its lead single “Backsliders” is out today. The twangy single has the band navigating a dense arrangement brimming with musical prowess and infectious melodies. You can pre-order the album here.
Revelations is the band’s first self-produced LP in their career with bandleader River Shook taking over production duty. The 10-track LP is promising to be their most confident and unfiltered album to date, with no one else to lean on but themselves the band was able to craft an LP that is undeniably Sarah Shook & The Disarmers. “A lot of artists are in this industry for fame, recognition, and money but those things don’t mean anything to me. Songwriting is it for me. It’s the only real healthy coping mechanism I’ve ever had. It’s life-saving, and all of my writing is autobiographical.” says Shook on their upcoming self-produced album, “there was something about Revelations that felt more personal to me. I unlocked this level of honesty with myself and an ability to be more objective about the things I struggle with daily. I’m a firm believer that if you are an artist, and you want to make better art, a big part of that isn’t just exercising your musical skills, it’s growing as a human being. So every time I make a record, I want to be able to listen to it and look back on who I was then. I want to see this arc and this evolution. That’s really fucking important to me.”
Along with the new self-produced LP being announced, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers are setting out on the road in 2024. The band has announced a string of dates that will take them across the States.
