Tuesday’s Gone: Al Green “Love and Happiness” Live 1973

With all due respect to the classic Motown era of the 1960s, you could make the argument that the 1970s were the golden age of soul and R&B music. The popularization of Chicago’s very own music variety show Soul Train certainly had a lot to do with that. After it moved to syndication in 1971, the rest was history, as it soon became a household name by showcasing the deep wellspring of talent that characterized the genre at the time. And on the eve of Valentine’s Day, it’s only fitting that we take you back to that aforementioned golden age with this classic performance of “Love and Happiness” by Al Green in his prime. The dude had his mojo working, buttering up the crowd with his intro serenade, then the foot tap, and queueing the dancefloor (shout out to the breakdancer in the white tank when the beat drops #legend).
