On Wednesday, March 6th, just days before Austin, TX is set to be descended upon by SXSW madness, Olympia’s Sleater-Kinney played for an enthusiastic crowd at ACL Live. Showcasing several tracks from their new album, Little Rope, the band was loud, muscular and uncompromising as they stomped through almost two dozen songs across their repertoire. The duo of Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker, led by a backing band, was also paying attention to their social media followers who were requesting songs to insert into the set. Opening the show was indie rock outfit Black Belt Eagle Scout, also from the Pacific Northwest. That band is led by frontwoman Katherine Paul, who frequently shook and thrashed around the stage while blasting the crowd with seething, grungy sheets of electric guitar.
