The good times just keep rolling over here at Camp Caustic as we usher in the Spring season with a list of new releases. We’re not the type to tell you what to do but if we could make a recommendation, this is a Caustic where you should listen to every song featured. Each tune features a unique musical prowess from dusty punk to luxurious rap, every song here has a million reasons to love it. From veteran bands making a return to refreshing faces putting their twist on the modern landscape only to emerge with something refreshing and entirely new. This is not a Caustic you want to skim over.

Ride – “I Came to See the Wreck”
Interplay
One of the pioneers of shoegaze has returned and their textures are as lush as ever. Ride releases their new album Interplay today and the 12-track outing has the band sharpening a sound they helped usher into the world. “I Came to See the Wreck” only scratches the surface of the potent songwriting on this album, the band sets their sentiments to warping guitar tones for blissful shoegaze from a veteran of the genre.
Sarah Shook & The Disarmers – “Nightingale”
Revelations
The day has finally arrived for the new Sarah Shook & The Disarmers album and everyone should be sprinting to hear this release. Revelations is both cohesive and exploratory as Shook navigates a colorful array of tones and tempos to deliver vulnerable songwriting. “Nightingale” features a swinging arrangement with infectious tendencies as soaring melodies deliver stunning lyrics. Revelations is already shaping up to be a landmark release for Sarah Shook & The Disarmers.
The Secret Sisters – “Planted”
Mind, Man, Medicine
The sibling-ran folk duo The Secret Sisters return with another example of what separates them from their contemporaries. Mind, Man, Medicine encompasses just about everything that makes the duo so enticing while elevating their signature sound to reach new heights of their creativity. “Planted” is an ambient track that showcases their powerful harmonies while penning touching poetry that performs an intricate slow dance with your soul.
Shabazz Palaces – “Goat Me” (Feat. Cobra Coil)
Exotic Birds of Prey
Prepare yourself for a cosmic journey through the ever-expanding electro-hip-hop of Shabazz Palaces. Exotic Birds of Prey is an ambitious release even for an artist who has built a discography of mind-altering rhymes and face-melting instrumentals, in just seven songs Shabazz Palaces is able to fit entire character arcs and head-spinning sonic twists. “Goat Me” features Cobra Coil along with droning synths that make this minimal tune sound full and alive as sporadic vocals cut through the dense textures.
The Coal Men – “I Hear Trains”

It is not very often we hear from country rockers The Coal Men but when we do it is a cause for celebration. Everett is an 11-song outing from a veteran band that deserves your undivided attention as they piece together a comeback album worth every minute of the wait. “I Hear Trains” has the band spinning an everyday occurrence into an unforgettable ballad with vivid imagery set to jagged guitar tones and an infectious drum pattern.
Jim White – “Long Assemblage”
All Hits: Memories
The long overdue and highly anticipated new album from veteran drummer/producer Jim White has arrived in all its glory. All Hits: Memories is an exploration into the many facets of White’s drumming prowess as the icon fuses genres through percussion that goes from complex to ambient in the blink of an eye. “Long Assemblage” is the song you need to replace your morning coffee, neck-breaking syncopation breaks down into swinging jazz as subtle cymbals give the song a spiritual touch.
The High Llamas – “The Grade”
Hey Panda
Prepare yourself for some of the most expansive and hypnotic pop music you’ve heard in quite some time. Sean O’Hagan’s The High Llamas returns with a stunning new LP Hey Panda and it makes up for the long wait in between albums, as if we ever stopped playing their back catalog. Regardless, Hey Panda is a special LP that features psychedelic vocal performances over an array of influences whittled down to fit Llamas’ expansive vision of pop music. “The Grade” features danceable minimalism as gentle melodies fall like feathers for a strong highlight on an album with almost zero weak points.
Roc Marciano – “Tapeworm”
Marciology
There are plenty of albums to dive into this new music Friday but no matter how long your list is, make sure the new Roc Marciano is high on your must-listen list. Marciology is another example of why Marciano is one of the most talented artists working right now as he delivers another undeniable piece of art to add to his collection. “Tapeworm” features dusty loops provided by the great Animoss act as the perfect accent to Marciano’s sleek rhyme schemes and wordplay that makes you do a double take. Put your phone down and ignore that email from work, Roc Marciano is speaking and every word is purposeful and potent.
JR Wicker – “Telepathy”
Weird Magic
JR Wicker might not be a name you recognize but after listening to their new release, it is a name you won’t ever forget. Weird Magic packs the artist’s uniquely dense approach to psychedelic rock in only eight tracks, a testament to Wicker’s songwriting abilities. “Telepathy” is a highlight on a very strong LP, the longing in the vocals echo throughout the cascading tones as Wicker releases a statement piece of an album.
Blvck Hippie – “Streetlights”

Coming off an unbelievably impressive debut, Blvck Hippie is making punk his own by intertwining psychedelic guitar tones and screeching melodies. “Streetlights” features an unforgettable vocal performance and a crashing arrangement for an attention-demanding single you won’t be able to get enough of. The single is lifted from the upcoming Basketball Camp LP set to be released on June 14.
Webbed Wing – “Burn It Down”
Vol. III
Philadelphia’s Webbed Wing is prepping the release of their third LP and the double-single we received should be all the reason you need to mark this release on your calendar. Vol. III is set to be released on July 12 and will feature the two singles “Further” and the hypnotically relatable “Burn It Down”. The latter features a chugging arrangement with soulful melodies that accent the slow-burning arrangement perfectly, a mesmerizing performance from one of Philly’s finest.
Subway Rat – “Delusional”
Single
Coming off the release of one of the most impressive albums we’ve heard this year, Subway Rat emerges with another reason to fall in love with this artist. “Delusional” is a punk-tinged love tune that redefines infectious. Murky vocals cut through subtle grooves as Subway Rat captures magic the only way they know how. If this is your introduction to Subway Rat, go listen to their previously released Captain of the Football Team LP and remind yourself of the mystical powers music can have on your environment.
Mdou Moctar – “Imouhar”
Funeral for Justice
On May 3, we will receive a brand new album from trailblazers Mdou Moctar, and if the latest single is only a hint of what’s to come we’re in for something special. “Imouhar” features some of the best guitar work you’ll hear all week as the band structures the song like a firework display. Technicolored tones weave in and out of distant vocals that contain enough passion and gusto to keep up with the neck-breaking guitar melodies.
Hiatus Kaiyote – “Make Friends”

Every time the soulful jazz of Hiatus Kaiyote makes an appearance it is a cause for celebration. “Make Friends” is a masterclass in subtlety, the band is able to make a sparse arrangement feel alive as heaven-sent vocals dance around an unpredictable instrumental. The single lifts you off the ground on a cloud of gentle beauty as the band preps us for another new LP. Love Heart Cheat Code is set to be released on June 28.
St. Vincent – “Flea”
All Born Screaming
On their latest single, St. Vincent welcomes you into their world of hard rock and moving poetry the only way the band knows how. “Flea” allows the words of the verses to jump out and grab you while the arrangement readies for explosive crescendos that set the vocal melodies to warp speed. The undeniably unforgettable single is from St. Vincent’s upcoming release All Born Screaming which will be released on April 26.
