Sessanta Tour (A Perfect Circle, Primus and Puscifer) Kicks Off At Boston’s Wang Theatre (RECAP)

A lineup this powerful in the metal world only happens once in a lifetime, or so we thought. Ten years ago, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, and Primus banded together to form Sessanta, a metal supergroup that put on a single show that brought artists together that have similar history and shared members (Tim Alexander on drums for both Puscifer and Primus) and Maynard James Kennen for A Perfect Circl and Puscifer)  in perfect unity. The show was a celebration of Maynard James Keenan’s 50th birthday. A key figure in shaping the modern sound of the genre, 2024 marks Keenan’s 60th birthday, and what better way to celebrate an icon than with an iconic tour? Sessanta is hitting the road this year in celebration of both Keenan and a decade of remembering the legendary night that brought these bands together. The tour kicked off last night (April 2) at the Wang Theatre in Boston, the first of two nights at the venue.

Night one of the Sessanta tour was as magical as it looks on paper. Each band takes turns in one to four-song intervals as each legendary band gets their time on stage. The highlight of the show was when each band performed their new single from the recently released Sessanta E.P.P.P., a three-track project with a new song from each band. This came towards the close of night one in Boston although the real closer of the show was Puscifer with a performance of “Grand Canyon”. Keenan’s two projects, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, broke up their stage time with co-headliner Primus perfectly. The night kicked off with A Perfect Circle performing “The Package”, “Disillusioned”, and “The Contrarian” before it was Primus’ first go-around on stage. Primus performed tracks like “Too Many Puppies”, “My Name Is Mud”, and “Southbound Pachyderm” throughout the night. Puscifer would deploy tracks such as “Man Overboard ”, “Indigo Children”, and “The Remedy” with their multiple appearances on stage. You can check out the full setlist below.

With night one in Boston in the bag, Sessanta is staying for round two of their two-night stay at Wang Theatre. The rest of the tour will have the trio of bands hitting major markets such as Chicago, New York City, and multiple stops in Texas. The tour will have them on the road for most of the Spring with the trek wrapping up in New York on May 4. You can check out the full list of dates, full setlist, and footage from night one in Boston below.
