LISTEN: Baby Maker Offers Refreshing Minimalism Approach On “Bags Of It”

With eerie vocals and a refreshing approach to minimalism, Baby Maker created something infectiously dark with “Bags of It.” In just under three minutes, the band showcases the many sides of their artistry by spinning ambiance into chugging, muted drums. Their vocals dance between rapid-fire melodies to warping spoken words as their words battle with each other. Baby Maker deploys face-melting guitar work to create an atmospheric track with contradicting elements that bleed into one another for a hectic single. “Bags of It” sees a young band taking a unique approach to modern post-punk with artsy harmonies that shake you awake so you can keep up with the hypnotic production.

“The music fell into place on this one first, Nile Rodgers on bad acid through a delay backed up by a simple Liquid Liquid-esque rhythm groove,” explains the band on their new single. “Lyrically was feeling a bit tongue-in-cheek – the track scathes at the sea of future financial services industry types currently sporting mullets and/or bucket hats as personality-for-hire in the UK. Hopefully, it all combines nicely to hammer home the message that there is no party in the back with these chaps.”
