LISTEN: NEVERHOME Flips Surf Rock Into Hectic Fuzzed Out Bliss On “Dune Dance”

NEVERHOME is an alternative rock band based in NYC. The band navigates influences from different ranges of Latin music and the wider Rock canon, alternating between flippant and sincere moods.

The first thing you notice about NEVERHOME’s “Dune Dance” is the rawness of the vocals. The scratchy delivery collides with danceable surf-rock tones for a fusion track that blends Latin-style guitars with spurts of experimentation. The industrial-style hook emphasizes the ever-warping vocal performance as the band casts a fishing net over the sea of rock music history and toys with whatever they fish up. The miraculous thing is how they blend all of these elements. Effortlessly, NEVERHOME created a unique brand of rock music they can call their own, and every nuance of it is displayed on “Dune Dance.” The new single has the band digging into the depths of rock music and combining it with a rugged delivery as NEVERHOME finds the middle ground between history and their lofty ambitions.

“‘Dune Dance’ was an opportunity for us to explore dynamism and contradiction and pack it up densely,” explains the band. “It’s a lot of fun to play live and was just as fun to record.”
