It’s officially summer for everyone in the northern hemisphere, which is typically cause for celebration for most people, unless you happen to live somewhere really fucking hot, that is. Take Sacramento, for example, where triple-digit heat and scorching sun are par for the course this time of year, a fact that apparently inspired Sactown native Chino Moreno to write one of the Deftone’s greatest songs, “My Own Summer” (aka “Shove It”). Chances are most folks can relate to the lines “the shade is a tool, a device, a savior” on the hottest summer days, which is a perfect excuse to blast this classic jam at incredibly high volume to help cure those angsty summertime blues.
