There are two types of people in this world: those who don’t like Sublime and those who like fun. Or at least that’s how most Sublime fans see things anyway. Kidding aside, the band has been in the news a lot lately, mainly because the late great Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob has effectively inherited the frontman position, performing alongside OG members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson at Coachella and recently making an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Coupled with the fact that Rome Ramirez is still touring under the Sublime with Rome moniker (which should be noted features no original band members at this point), and the fact we’re in the middle of summer, it’s understandable if it feels like you can’t escape Sublime these days (for better or worse).
But like the late great Marvin Gaye used to sing “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing” which is why we’re throwing it back to this OG Sublime performance of “Don’t Push” from the House of Blues back in 1996, which was recorded a few weeks prior to Bradley Nowell’s tragic death. Few things go together better than Sublime and summer, so it’s the season. R.I.P. Bradley:
