Did anyone happen to catch Gojira’s epic performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympics last week? (if not, you should definitely check it out)! Granted, Gojira are no strangers to laying down impressive performances, so in honor of France’s favorite metal sons, we’re throwing it back to an old-school Gojira performance of “Flying Whales” from 10 years ago at Resurrection Fest. While it doesn’t exactly have the slick production value of their cinematic performance from Paris last week, it does have a good old-fashioned wall of death and all frantic moshing, righteous headbanging, and crushing breakdowns that characterize a classic Gojira show. To quote Joe Duplantier: “It’s summer-time, it’s festival-time, it’s beer-time…it’s a wall of death time”. Indeed it is. Behold:
