Trizz, born Arthur “Tre” Lea III, is a self-released rapper based out of Los Angeles/Inland Empire, California. The young rapper became an avid music aficionado at an early age, first picking up a microphone at the tender age of nine. Growing up in the suburbs of the Inland Empire, Hip-Hop became a way for Trizz and his neighborhood friends to escape boredom and the simplicities of living life on the outskirts. As his writing skills developed, Trizz perfected his lyrical skill and began producing his own beats and mixtapes under the moniker Young Trizz. His debut full-length EP, titled Young Trizz, demonstrates the journey of an independent artist looking to lead ahead of the pack.
Capturing the gritty tendencies of the Golden Era and blending them with the artsy tendencies of modern hip-hop, Trizz teams up with Mike Summers on the hypnotic “Alpine.” In a love letter to hearing hip-hop records booming from classic cars, Trizz delivers heady wordplay over Summers’ West Coast-drenched tones for a grimmy anthem. While the track does pay homage to the classic West Coast Hip-hop aesthetic, you can’t help but notice how Trizz is bringing those tropes to the present and into the future. Trizz employs vivid imagery to detail the juggling act of creating forward-thinking music while feeling deeply connected to your city’s musical history. Thanks to Summers’s searing synth work and neck-breaking drum patterns. “Alpine” toes that line beautifully. Trizz and Summers created something magical with “Alpine.” The single acts as a time portal between two different eras of West Coast artists to make its eerie yet enticing sound tied together by a catchy yet equally haunting hook.
