The third and final day of the Newport Folk Festival featured a plethora of weekend highlights, but the set by “Conan O’Brien & Real Musicians” stole the show. He was joined by artists ranging from Dawes and Nick Lowe to actors John C. Reilly and Jack White. While White was certainly a surprise, it was O’Brien’s guitar proficiency that was a true shock.
Tinariwen proved themselves beyond description with their set of Saharan grooves on the Quad Stage, only to be outdone by an acoustic performance by funk virtuoso Cory Wong, who was joined by Bass Lord Victor Wooten and members of Vulfpeck.
