VIDEO PREMIERE: Manicburg Fuse Indie Rock and Proggy Stylings on “One for You and One for Me”

Manicburg is a new project born in northern Manhattan. It is the trait d’union of two musicians: NYC native Ray Lustig, whose sound (“surreally beautiful…ecstatic…rapturous” – New York Times, “eerie prescience” – The Washington Post)—melds with the mystery-soaked production of Italy’s Luigi Porto—“abstract, hypnotizing, absolutely unique” (Angelo Badalamenti), “incredibly striking atmospheres” (Stuart Maconie).

Together they make a beautifully composed form of intricate dreampop and prog-rock reminiscent of Blonde Redhead, Queen, Radiohead, and more.

Their first public appearances in Brooklyn and Manhattan, in a lineup of five, have been described as having a neo-Victoriancore vibe, with Lustig taking the stage as a flamboyant mountebank, with tones of a 19th-century traveling public “lecturer.”

Today Glide is excited to premiere a single “One for You and One for Me,” teaser for the band’s debut album release, which is due out October 25th. With its striking keys hitting right out of the gate, the song finds the band imbuing a sense of drama as they lean into a sound that marries indie rock and prog. The song twists and turns in a way that pulls you into its mysterious nature while maintaining a melodic sensibility. It’s also brimming with intense guitar flourishes, which complement the gloriously weird video.
