Mirrors on the Moon is the brainchild of singer, guitarist and producer Donny Dykowsky (Chesterwhite). He’s joined by Chesterwhite bassist Freddy Pastore as well as drummer John Hummel [Lady Gaga] keyboardist Dave Archer [UNI and the Urchins], with Emily MacMahon [Colorjoy] on backing vocals.
“There are mirrors on the moon,” Dykowsky says. “We shoot lasers at those mirrors to calculate how far the moon drifts from the Earth. The name is three-dimensional for me, because I think of where I’ve been and what’s to come.” He continues, ”These songs have a certain weight to them, and hopefully the performance is sincere enough where you can find truth in them as well.
Today Glide is offering an exclusive premiere of the new video for the single “Wild Love.” With a distinctively vintage feel to the music video, the song is a sharp and grooving work of laid back rock and roll. Big Tom Petty-style choruses and a nice dose of organ give this song the feeling of soulful Americana-rock. We also get a healthy amount of feedback-laced, psyched out guitar soloing that gives the tune a trippy, acid-washed feel. If you’re looking for an easygoing summer road trip tune, this is it.
Songwriter/frontman Donny Dykowsky describes the inspiration behind the tune:
“Wild Love” takes you on a road trip through the hills of North Carolina and Tennessee. It was kind of an impulsive Summer trip with my family, where my my family and I rode horses in Asheville and camped in the Smoky Mountains on our way to Nashville where we got lost in the food and culture. Once I got home the song pretty much wrote itself.”
