For all this writer’s grumbling about the heat this time of year, sometimes you just have to embrace it and, well, “Enjoy Yourself”. That’s what legendary 2-tone ska outfit The Specials certainly did a great job of back in their heyday. A case in point is this delightfully jovial and sweaty performance from the Montreaux Jazz Festival way back in 1980 when the band was effectively in its prime. The jaunty rocksteady rhythm of the music suits the season perfectly, which helps make The Specials essential listening this time of year (at least for yours truly anyway). After all, autumn is just around the corner, so might as well embrace the heat while it lasts and do it up. Like the song says, “Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think”. Cheers to that, and cheers to The Specials. R.I.P. Terry Hall.
