For those who never got into Motörhead, Lemmy Kilmister had another era, which began with his stint in Hawkwind, that might make one a late-coming fan. Hawkwind was formed in 1969 and was known for its pioneering contributions to space rock, psycho, and prog while incorporating science fiction themes that were bizarre and “manic” for their day. Led by founding member Dave Brock, Hawkwind has gone through numerous lineup changes over the decades, featuring notable musicians like Lemmy who gave the band a thunderous voice and bass sound.
