Palomino Blond are an up-and-coming independent rock band that’s both a product of and an alternative to their native Miami locale. The trio of Carli Acosta (guitar/lead vocals – they/them), Emma Arevalo (drums/vocals – she/they) and Peter Allen (guitar – he/him) will release their sophomore album You Feel It Too on October 4th, on Kanine Records (Surfer Blood, Blushing). It’s a dynamic collection heavily influenced by both ‘90s alt-rock and the not-as-obvious sounds of their surroundings.

With a DIY ethos and lots of big guitars, Palomino Blond have gone from heroes of the house-show circuit to darlings of the regional cognoscenti. With a stout, multi-dimensional sound whose prism spans grunge, shoegaze and dream pop, they’ve got all the right influences. But, while Palomino Blond are acolytes of the ‘90s, their music is no basic redux. Instead, they’re part of a surging young class that’s bringing new blood, perspective and verve to give the classic alternative-rock aesthetic a distinctly 21st century resonance.

Today Glide is excited to offer an exclusive premiere of the album in its entirety. Mixing shoegaze and 90s-alt-rock glory, the album is a testament to the power of a new generation of rockers. The band blends grungy blowouts with melodic bursts and smart songwriting to make for a collection of songs that is at once intelligent, gritty, and radio-ready.

Here is what the band had to say about the album:

When people ask me what our band sounds like, it’s hard to say, but my best description is that we’re a rock band from Miami. We love big bass. We love electronic dance music. We love metal, like Floor, Torche, Boris, and we love noise, and Sonic Youth, and shoegaze, punk, pop emo – And if you put all that together, that’s us. That’s the album – everything we like, everything we want to hear in a band, and everything we want to play in our band.

I think people, and even bands themselves, want to pigeon-hole a band’s sound to make it easier – to describe, to listen to, to playlist or whatever the fuck – but we just did what we love on this album, which is: pretty much everything and anything. We sampled 70s funk and 80s pop beats; we didn’t play to a click; we did wall-of-sound on one song, and acoustic on the next; we used iPhone voice memos on final mixes; we did 15 guitar tracks on others; we all sing on this album; all three of us all write; we’re just a rock band from Miami, and that’s what this album is all about. We hope it resonates.
