Austin City Limits Festival Returns for Weekend Two With Chappell Roan, Remi Wolf, Khruangbin, blink-182, Being Dead & More (Preview)

With Weekend One already in the books, Austin City Limits Music Festival is making its return to Zilker Park for Weekend Two (Oct. 11-13) next. Once again, the festival will feature a weekend brimming with major acts and exciting up-and-comers (including some exclusive to Weekend Two only), along with all the brews and bites you could want from the local Austin food scene. Here are five Weekend Two-exclusive acts and five more sets you should check out:

Five Artists To Know (Weekend Two Exclusives)

late night drive home

When ACL returns for Weekend Two, it’ll be El Paso lo-fi rockers late night drive home who kick off the festivities with the first set of the day. With a verve that evokes acts like The Strokes, Wallows, and Cuco’s more rock-forward output, the band will have the opportunity to play their latest 2024 singles and their jangly, catchy EP Am I sinking or Am I swimming?. late night drive home are scheduled to perform on the Honda Stage on Friday (10/11) at 12:55 p.m.

St. Lucia

With early records When the Night and Matter, St. Lucia was a vibrant festival mainstay in the mid-2010s. Now the synth-pop project of Jean-Philip Grobler is back with grooving new 2024 single “Falling Asleep”, teased as the start of a “new era.” St. Lucia is scheduled to perform on the IHG Hotel & Resorts Stage on Friday (10/11) at 5:30 p.m.

Being Dead

Saturday should be an exciting homecoming for Austin outfit Being Dead. The band’s latest effort EELS just dropped and brings together lo-fi riffs, surf rock vibes, and deft vocal interplay between its two singers – along with an array of other experimental and oddball instrumental components. Being Dead are scheduled to perform on the IHG Hotel & Resorts Stage on Saturday (10/12) at 12:05 p.m.

Remi Wolf

This year, Remi Wolf released a new studio album Big Ideas, full of an eclectic array of pop sounds, from the danceable groove of “Cinderella” to the lo-fi echoey vocals of “Kangaroo.” Aside from headlining her own The Big Ideas Tour this year, Remi Wolf has also honed her electric stage presence with opening slots for the likes of Lorde and Olivia Rodrigo. Remi Wolf is scheduled to perform on the Miller Lite Stage on Saturday (10/12) at 5:10 p.m.

Grand Funk Railroad

Classic rock more your speed? Grand Funk Railroad’s got you covered. With prolific and popular output, especially from the ’70s, the Michigan rockers have a deep roster of instantly recognizable hits, like “We’re an American Band”, as well as their spins on “Some Kind of Wonderful” and “The Loco-Motion.” (The band’s ongoing tour is actually celebrating the 50th anniversary of “The Loco-Motion”.) Grand Funk Railroad are scheduled to perform on the Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage on Saturday (10/12) at 6:20 p.m.

Leon Bridges

Hot off the press, Leon Bridges just released new album Leon. With a trio of standout singles – the relaxing “Peaceful Place”, the grooving “Laredo”, and the sensual “That’s What I Love” – the soulful crooner will have the opportunity to bring his record to life in a festival setting. Leon Bridges is scheduled to perform on the American Express Stage on Friday (10/11) at 6:30 p.m.

blink-182

The gang’s all back together: With Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker sharing the stage, the most well-known configuration of blink-182 is back in full effect. The pop-punk titans recently released the hefty deluxe edition ONE MORE TIME… PART-2. Songs from this record have been in heavy rotation on the band’s recent setlists, along with classic hits like “Dammit” and “Feeling This”. blink-182 are scheduled to perform on the Honda Stage on Friday (10/11) at 8:10 p.m.

The Beaches

With the viral success of rocking single “Blame Brett”, Toronto outfit The Beaches reached the the top of the Billboard Canada rock charts. Along the way, Blame My Ex (the band’s studio album that features “Blame Brett”) won the prestigious 2024 Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year. The Beaches are scheduled to perform on the T-Mobile Stage on Saturday (10/12) at 3:20 p.m.

Khruangbin

Even if you aren’t familiar with Khruangbin’s full discography, the Houston trio’s often instrumental psych rock/funk grooves make for impeccable listening, especially in a festival setting. The band has also collaborated with Friday performer Leon Bridges, so a live collaboration could potentially be in the cards (and it could be fittingly on “Texas Sun”, like during Weekend One). Khruangbin are scheduled to perform on the American Express Stage on Saturday (10/12) at 6:20 p.m.
