Blue Goose has spent the last 18 months in Moles Recording Studio in Bath as it slowly closed around them after decades as a signature recording studio and live music venue, making the most of this privilege to create a new musical faction. Launched at the historic Jacaranda venue in Liverpool, their debut tour in July 2024 premiered an immersive live show around the UK. Forging a sound that draws from the old-school precision of ’60s production with the verve and swagger of Britpop, their lead single ‘Dopamine’ and their sophomore release “Abigail’ have both garnered national praise.
Blue Goose likes to keep one eye on their roots and another on the present moment, landing their sound somewhere between nostalgic rock-pop and their perspective on the world around them. This explains the familiar yet refreshing feeling you get when you hear their new single, “Abigail,” the cinematic indie rock outing that shines a light on the band’s vivid storytelling abilities. The cascading backing vocals add a dramatic flair to the sharp guitar solos while adding a level of consistency to this constantly evolving track. What starts as a passionate indie rock performance with soaring strings under it quickly changes when the stunning bridge kicks in. When the drums drop, and it is just vocals, strings, and guitar, you feel euphoric as heavenly vocals and moody strings lead us into a joyous crescendo. Blue Goose seemingly packed a whole theatrical play into “Abigail.” The band’s new single allows them to explore their nuances and unearth a sound they can call their own, one with imaginative storytelling and infectious melodies.
“Who is Abigail? You are cordially invited to find out,” explains the band when asked about their new single.
